Architect & design services for growing Leigh showroom
Having supported our client through the development of its original new-build premises in 2006, PAB Architects was engaged to deliver architect and design services for the new extension which will provide much-needed additional retail floor space, opportunities to offer more customer facilities such as a café and more car parking, and additional warehousing in a separate, cladded building, for the storage of increased stock.
Self-built by our client, our designs needed to allow for significant growth by our client company in the coming years, while creating a welcoming, eye-catching and self-contained retail showroom premises for visitors.
Our PAB Architects client, based locally in Leigh, Greater Manchester, operates a bathroom and plumbing sales and showroom premises for retail and trade customers which has been established for over 40 years.
Selling plumbing and heating parts and high-end bathroom fixtures and fittings, our client has enjoyed a great deal of success and, having outgrown its existing premises, now seeks an extension to the building which will increase retail floor space to accommodate more home improvement ranges, enhance customer experiences and allow for additional warehousing at the rear of the site.
This former school and graveyard site, located close to Leigh town centre, presented particular challenges during the construction of the initial building, which included the handling of an application for local authority licence to construct on this historical piece of land.
Benefiting from considerable understanding of this complex site following our initial appointment on the new-build premises, management of the extension and warehouse development was more straightforward, with consistency of design, continued kerb appeal and creation of usable space our primary considerations in the architect and design aspects of the project.
PAB Architects, based close to our client’s site in Leigh, Greater Manchester, has delivered an extension and warehouse design which allows for around a 50% increase on the original building’s square footage to comfortably accommodate our client’s growing business.
Glass-fronted with curtain walling, the design of the new extension keys into the existing building seamlessly. Our team has supported our client throughout architect design, planning and building regulations phases, and provides additional day-to-day support during our client’s self-build as required.
With the extension to its commercial showroom in Leigh now complete, our client will benefit from a valuable increase space, giving them room to grow and allowing them to expand their new home showroom areas containing products such as lighting and building materials, while enabling the increase of retail and trade sales through wider ranges and more on-site storage and warehousing space.
