PAB Architects was engaged by Stocks Hall to deliver its new-build care home development on the site of a former hotel and eating house. Demolishing the site’s previous structures, our PAB Architects team created a purpose-built, bespoke design offering generous proportions across the whole home to provide a comfortable living environment, together with relaxation lounges and cinema room, for residents.

Following completion of the care home, our client invited PAB Architects to design the Mawdesley Leisure facility comprising a hydrotherapy and relaxation pool, jacuzzi and spa, gym, and health and wellbeing treatment rooms. This second phase of the project also included a further 12 assisted living apartments and a café, open to the public.

Stocks Hall was opened as an assisted living facility, located in a rural setting in West Lancashire. Expanded to comprise independent living apartments and a luxurious leisure and fitness suite, our client provides care services for residents as well as luxurious homes, facilities and surroundings which are highly desirable in the local community and further afield.

The site started life as a 52-unit care home, and has been extended by further assisted living apartments for over-55s to now house around 70 units.

Our PAB Architects team developed a deep understanding of the healthcare and leisure sectors in particular during each phase of the Stocks Hall project.

Working closely alongside the Stocks Hall team to identify the specific needs of care teams and residents, we brought our client’s vision of a unique, new and purpose-built care home to life, supported by luxurious leisure facilities which are a welcome addition in the local area.

With full project and quality management services from our team, PAB Architects delivered a purpose-designed, highly bespoke care, residential & leisure facility to 5* health and living accommodation standards, making Stocks Hall not only a specialist care home but a highly desirable place to live, exercise and relax.

Central to our architect and design services on the Stocks Hall project was taking a hospitality approach, giving Stocks Hall Mawdesley the style and feel of a luxurious hotel. Achieved in particular through quality fit-out and careful planning and design, residents and guests can enjoy hotel-style surroundings together with expert care from Stocks Hall staff.

The success of phase 1 of the Stocks Hall project led to greater demand, progressing phase 2 more quickly and allowing our client to expand its offering to residents looking to invest in assisted living properties.

PAB Architects’ full services suite was utilised, linking into other specialisms including a significant amount of M&E, interior design and leisure facilities. With quality exterior landscaping planned to a high specification, PAB met our client’s ‘boutique hotel’ vision which has become desirable leisure and living accommodation for the whole local community. Stocks Hall has since instructed PAB Architects to design additional medical care and rehabilitation premises in Ormskirk to meet the client’s future growth needs.
